Delicious country-ham sauce and good collards gave this classic Savannah plate plenty of appeal; crisper, more flavorful grit cakes would have made it shine.

This is a wonderful dish. But alas, too fancy. The collards are very good…Maybe not the best in town but entirely in the conversation. They are not spicy, which is a plus for many folks.

The country ham gravy is a very creamy, incredibly delicious sauce. It tastes cheesy, but I don’t believe it contains cheese.

The five medium shrimp are nothing to scream about—tasty, but plain. The cheddar grit cakes aren’t working. They aren’t fried crispy and they are rather tasteless. As with so many places that try grit cakes, they take away from the dish. B+, still very tasty.
